6-Step Lawn Care Program

Let's cut through the noise. If you want a lawn that's thick, green, and weed-free, you need a system. Not guesswork. Not hoping for the best. Here's exactly what we do and why we do it.

Step 1: Early Spring – Stop Weeds Before They Start

We apply a crabgrass pre-emergent combined with a slow-release fertilizer. This creates a barrier in the soil that stops crabgrass seeds from germinating. Think of it as locking the door before the trouble walks in. The fertilizer gives your lawn the nutrients it needs to wake up strong after winter.

Step 2: Spring – Hit the Broadleaf Weeds Hard

By now dandelions, clover, and other broadleaf weeds are showing their faces. We apply a targeted post-emergent weed control to eliminate them on contact, paired with another round of fertilization. This is where your lawn starts to look like a lawn again.

Step 3: Late Spring – The Triple Threat

This is the most critical application of the season. We hit crabgrass with both pre- and post-emergent control, target any remaining broadleaf weeds, and feed your lawn again. This step ensures your grass stays dominant and the weeds stay gone.

Step 4: Early Summer – Protect Against Bugs and Weeds

Summer brings surface insects like ants, chinch bugs, and sod webworms. We apply surface insect control to stop them before they damage your turf. At the same time, we continue to target the broadleaf weed control and add fertilizer to keep your lawn thriving through the heat.

Step 5: Late Summer / Early Fall – Recover and Rebuild

Your lawn has been through a lot. We apply post-emergent weed control to clean up any late-season invaders and feed it with a balanced fertilizer. This sets the stage for a strong recovery heading into fall.

Step 6: Late Fall – Winterize for a Head Start Next Year

We apply a winterizer fertilizer high in potassium. This strengthens the root system, improves cold tolerance, and stores energy for a faster, greener green-up in spring. This step is non-negotiable if you want results year after year.

Optional Services
(For Clients Who Want Perfection)
  • Early Spring & Fall Lime/Sulfur Applications: Based on a soil test. We adjust your pH so your lawn can absorb the nutrients we're putting down. Using lime for low pH and sulfur for high pH.
  • Summer Post-Nutsedge & Kyllinga Control: Nutsedge and Kyllinga are stubborn. We treat it with a specialized product that kills it without harming your grass.
  • Fall Aeration: Relieves soil compaction and allows water, air, and nutrients to reach the roots. This should be done annually.
  • Fall Thatching: Removes the layer of dead organic matter that suffocates your lawn, should be done every few years as needed.
  • Fall Slit Seeding: Opens up bare or thin areas and drops seed directly into the soil for thick, even growth.
  • Starter Fertilizer: Well-balanced fertilizer to enhance seed growth.
  • Summer Grub Control: Targets the larvae of Japanese beetles and other beetles before they destroy your roots.
